(KALYMNOS)

Anna has been involved in native Greek dance and music from a very young age. She has been involved with the Lykeion Ellinidon of Kalymnos since 1976, where her mother Popi Mavrou holds the current office of President.
A pharmacist by trade, Anna studied at the Aristotelion University of Thessaloniki. During her student days, she was a member of the Dodecanese Club where she taught dances from that region.
Since 1990, Anna Mavrou has been living in Kalamata. She is an active a member of the dance groups of the regional Lykeion and participates in performances within Greece and in other countries.
In 1994, she was elected to the Board of Directors of the Lykeion Ellinidon of Kalamata, and since 1998 has served as the Board liason for dance and choir. She teaches dance to various young and adult groups, and instructs Aegean dances to the Lykeion of Kalamata.
In 2006 and 2007, Anna had the honour of being selected to participate at the FDF Festival in California as a dance group judge. She continues to provide dance instruction on Kalymnos and the Dodecanese islands at seminars and conferences internationally.
