With origins in Elafonisos (Laconia), Giorgos Liaros was born in Piraeus in 1978. Growing up in the Athens neighbourhood of Keratsini, he became involved with traditional dances from an early age. In 1993, he began as a dancer with the professional Dora Strata Theatre, and became a Dora Stratou instructor in the year 2000.

Between 2003 to 2007, he was the head teacher for the Paros Island Dance Group. This gave Giorgos the opportunity to study the daily routine and life of the local people there, and provided him with the motivation to further research the music & dances of Paros island and the rest of Cyclades area.

He has given many performances, presentations and seminars on the traditional dances and customs of Paros in Europe, Australia and the U.S.A.

In January 2008, Liaros became the editor and publisher of “HOREVO” magazine. "HOREVO" is a bi monthly publication which focuses on Traditional Dance, Song & Folklore research.
