(THRACIAN villages of METAXADON and GAGAVOUZYDON)
Aggelos Nikolaidis was born in 1974 in Orestiada, Evros, Thrace, and presently lives in Triandria, Thessaloniki.
In 1983. he began his first courses of traditional dance and started dancing with many associations in Greece. Seven years ago, he became an instructor for a Thracian association in Thessaloniki, which marked the beginning of Aggelos' research and specialisation in Thrace.
He has given particular attention to the villages Metaxadon and Gagavouzydon, which have an enormous variety of songs and local dances. In Gagavouzika, the difficulty for many is the language -- something which has given Aggelo an advantage.
Aggelo has presented his research of these villages to many dance groups and seminars in Europe and in Canada. Presently he is researching local costumes and antique items used in daily village life.
